Chapter 05: The Highroads - Final Fantasy X Guide - IGN (2024)

Mi'ihen Highroad

• Treasures: Hi-Potion (x3), Antidote (x6), Hunter Spear, Ice Brand, Red Ring, Echo Ring/Seeker's Ring, Remedy, 2400 Gil, Soft (x3), Ether, Eye Drops (x3), Lv. 1 Key Sphere (x2), Mega Potion (x2), Thunder Blade, Scout.
• Key Items: Al Bhed Primer Vol. 8, Al Bhed Primer Vol. 9, Mars Crest*

Attack Reels

Save Spheres from this point onward are level 2. Meaning, you can now play Blitzball at every Save Sphere anytime. Just follow the road, but don't forget to pick up all of the items from everyone. Talk to the three travelers for a Hi-Potion, Antidote (x2), and a Hunter's Spear. Behind the Crumbled House where you met Maechan is a chest with an Ice Brand.

A little further up the road the Chocobo Knights will inform Yuna and her party of a large monster. Talk to Belgemine, the Summoner in green on the side road, to enter a one-on-one fight between Aeons. A win will earn you an Echo Ring, while defeat gets you a Seeker's Ring.

Next up, talk to the passerby for a Red Ring and the kid for Soft (x3). Don't forget to get the Remedy in the chest to the left. Continue east to the next screen. Here, move along and collect some loot from treasure chests and people- including a Lv.1 Key Sphere, Antidote (x4), Hi-Potion and 2000 Gil. Talk to the soldier for an Ether. After the encounter with Shelinda, at the end of the path is Eye Drops (x3).

At the Travel Agency, an event will occur where Auron gets everyone to rest. Leave the building and go across the road, where Yuna and Tidus will have a little conversation about Sin and what they're going to do from now on. The next morning, a boy will give Tidus a Lv.1 Key Sphere and there will also be a tutorial of sorts. When you try to leave, Tidus will meet Rin, from whom, you will get the Al Bhed Primer Vol. 8 and Mega Potion (x2). Save and leave.

Successfully defeat the monster and you get a free Chocobo ride! This is especially useful if you want to be able to explore the Old Road in peace.

After the first right turn there should be a yellow feather on the ground. Look at these yellow feathers, they allow the Chocobo to jump to hidden areas. This feather should allow to Chocobo to jump to a ledge above for a Heat Lance. Continue on the road and there should be a Al Bhed Primer Vol. 9 on the ground. Following the road will take you to the North End of the Mi'ihen Highroad.

Get the Hi-Potion (x2) in the chest around the bend and follow the path to the right. Watch out for a feather in the ground shortly after getting on this path, it will lead you to a Thunder Blade and a Scout. Keep following the road, at the end is a chest with the Mars Crest (Saturn Crest in FFX: International). Go back north and on the way there's another chocobo feather that leads to a Fortune Sphere on the right. Talk to Luzzu and Gatta and try to get past the guards and onto Mushroom-Rock Road. An event will occur where Seymour will come to the rescue and help Yuna and her party get through.

Talk to the first guard to the left and make a donation for Operation Mi'ihen, the amount donated determines if Tidus gets the Scout (100 Gil), Ice Lance (1000 Gil), or Moon's Ring (10,000 Gil).

Mushroom Rock

• Treasures: Hi-Potion, Ether, Phoenix Down (x2), 1000 Gil, Potion (x10), Remedy, X-Potion, Serene Armlet, Mega Potion (x2), Tough Bangle.

• Key Items: Al-Bhed Primer X

Talk to the three Crusaders to get an Ether, Hi Potion, and Phoenix Down (x2). The guy to the right of the entrance has a Tough Bangle. Take the platform up and follow the path east. Talk to the soldier and receive Potion (x10). Get the chest here with 1000 Gil. Turn back and go north, get the chest for a Remedy. Follow the red indicator to the end and take the platform up. Here, talk to the soldier for an X-Potion.

Go north and then west, take the platform down to get the chest with a Serene Armlet. Talk to the wandering guard for 400 Gil. Head north and before taking the platform up, follow the spiraling path to the west and pick up Al-Bhed Primer vol. 10,

Continue up the platform.Talk to the guard for a Mega Potion.Save your game. Don't go up yet, head south first to watch an interesting event between Luzzu, Wakka and Lulu, about Chappu. After that, go up and head south. Off to the east is the Command Center, where you can snag another Mega Potion to the right.

After going up the final platform, you will find the Al-Bhed Machina set up along the cliff-face. Wakka shows his opinion once more on the matter.Walk east following the red indicator on the minimap, Once you reach the Command Center, you will have the chance to save at the Save Sphere.

You can head north slightly from the Save Sphere to buy some interesting wares from 'O'aka XIII' - (with discount if you paid 10,001+ gil at the given opportunities).

When you attempt to enter the Command Center you will see Gatta, he will talk about fighting sin, before walking away.If you talk to Gatta again, you can influence his decision.

Once Gui dies, an FMV will show Sin's counterattack. After the short break, Gui comes back for seconds. You have Seymour, Yuna, and Auron here and it's not much of a battle either. Seymour's level 2 Black Magic spells, plus some attacks from Auron should dispatch Gui quickly.

The scene now switches to Tidus at the beach. Talk to Gatta here and watch him freak out. The party gets to move on after a series of events.

After the cutscene, on the west side of the beach there is a chest containing a Hi-Potion. Talk to Auron just west of the Save Sphere to continue.

'O'aka XIII' can be seen waiting, just south of the party.
